Expensify Starbucks App. If you have the feature enabled, the app will upload your receipt to their site, and apply “SmartScan”, which means they will extract the text from the receipt and then attempt to categorize it. Expensify SmartScan. It takes about 10 minutes to complete a receipt. The developer response is condescending. I have used the app for several years. For most of that time it steadily improved. Smart scan removed all of the cognitive load and made it fire and forget. That is no longer true. Errors have become common and scan time is 24 hours or so. That means I have to think about it now. I always scan at point.

Dollarbird isn't a dedicated expense tracker app and doesn't generate expense reports. Instead it focuses on helping you figure out where your money is going so you can quickly cut down on expenses. The thing I love about Dollarbird is the itemized expense view that lets you see exactly what percent of your income is going to what expenses. This makes it easy to pinpoint problem categories and quickly remedy any issues.
While Dollarbird could pass as a budget app, it works much better at determining problem expenses in my experience. If you don't need to generate expense reports but really need to get a handle on cutting down on personal expenses, Dollarbird is for you. Free - Your favorite expense tracking apps for iPhone? I am using Expensify for expenses as per QBO recommendation. However it seems I have manually amend every expense entry to sort the VAT element. Is there a better way Example.
Hotel bill £100 VAT @ 20% = £20 Total £120. Collected on Expensify and submitted to QBO in a monthly return.
At present I have to manually adjust every single expenses entry to check whether the i) is the VAT reclaimable and then ii) if so, at what rate. Is there a simpler way? I spoke to the QBO helpdesk but they said Expensify was a 3rd Party App and therefore she could nt help. Expensify 'help' is only available online and answers in a day or so. Any assistance greatly appreciated Andy.
I fear the latter! When I spoke to QBO's UK help desk they said its a 3rd party App. When I asked why do they recommend it, she basically said they (QBO) don't! Which does nt make sense IMHO. If Intuit are selling into the UK market and recommending an App for the UK market, I don't think its unreasonable to think they would/should have checked to make sure it works for the UK market. Bottom line is the £10/month for Expensify I more than get back in terms of time and not loosing receipts. Its the lack or transparency at the point of sale that irritates.
People come to QuickBooks Learn & Support for help and answers—we want to let them know that we're here to listen and share our knowledge. We do that with the style and format of our responses. Here are five guidelines:. Keep it conversational. When answering questions, write like you speak. Imagine you're explaining something to a trusted friend, using simple, everyday language. Avoid jargon and technical terms when possible.
When no other word will do, explain technical terms in plain English. Be clear and state the answer right up front.
Ask yourself what specific information the person really needs and then provide it. Stick to the topic and avoid unnecessary details. Break information down into a numbered or bulleted list and highlight the most important details in bold. Be concise. Aim for no more than two short sentences in a paragraph, and try to keep paragraphs to two lines.
A wall of text can look intimidating and many won't read it, so break it up. It's okay to link to other resources for more details, but avoid giving answers that contain little more than a link. Be a good listener. When people post very general questions, take a second to try to understand what they're really looking for. Then, provide a response that guides them to the best possible outcome. Be encouraging and positive.
Look for ways to eliminate uncertainty by anticipating people's concerns. Make it apparent that we really like helping them achieve positive outcomes.
